Hairburst Review

I'll admit, I did chuckle to myself when I managed to get my hands on a bottle of Hairburst tablets....seeing as though I have a crop... However, I heard it not only helped give your hair a helping hand to grow, but also to give you, thick, luscious, super shiny locks! Just what I needed after being left basically bald by the birth of my baby!

I got a month supply that you can find here I took two capsules a day. The packaging is bright and simple, the sort of bottle you wouldn't mind sitting on your bedside table. The tablets themselves are coated and easy to swallow, a huge plus for me!

The price isn't too bad I think for vitamins, especially as they claim to do so much for your hair! The tablets are packed with all types of vitamins and collagen to really give your hair that it needs to stay healthy and nourished.

I must admit, I did notice a great difference in the overall appearance of my hair, so soft and gleaming! Growth wise, I felt like I became Rapunzal overnight! My style of crop has a longer fringe which basically turned into a beautiful, glossy statement that I could style any way I wanted and look salon fresh!

The down side to all this super quick hair growth is the effect it had on my undesirable hair (damn my Greek background) yes the tablets did mean my loathed upper lip hair and dark side burns grew very quickly. Of course, nothing a quick trip to the salon for some threading won't fix!

So, before trying Hairburst, my hair was weak, lack lustre and had the most horrendous receding hair line. It was so flat and lifeless you could literally hear it going "meh" when I'd style it. Post Hairburst my hairline is noticeably full with what feels like tonnes of healthy hair, just a shame long hair just doesn't suit me or I would definitely keep bottles of these tablets up in my tower with me whilst brushing my long mane!

Thank you to Hairburst for letting me try out their tablets, all the thoughts are, as always, my own

LET'S GET BAKING

The trend of baking your makeup was ignored by me for quite some time, I'm not going to lie, when I saw the pictures on Instagram I laughed to myself. No way will I ever find the time to do that!

With that said I found myself with some spare time so gave it a whirl, worth a shot as it claims to give your concealer a flawless and creaseless finish, sounds impressive huh? Here is how I do some baking!

First off I conceal my under eye area, I use a mixture of the Laura Mercier High Coverage Concealer and the Nars Creamy Concealer. I tend to use a lighter shade of the Nars concealer as it doubles up as a highlight too. Then using a damp Beauty Blender, I smooth and blend everything. Now take that same Beauty Blender and dip it into a loose powder, I use the Nars Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder, now press the powder into any areas you have concealed. For me, that is my under eye area, forehead and just below the hollows of my cheek. Don't be scared to pile it on, as it will help it work a lot more if you do.

Now you can continue with the rest of your face whilst the powder does the baking. Yes you will feel like a total numpty with a load of powder on your face, but it will all look complete in the end.

Finally take a light, fluffy brush and dust away the excess powder. You will be left with an absolutely, stunning, airbrushed under eye and any other areas you've baked! This little trick has set the concealer to leave it all creaseless, honestly, the perfect look for a night out or special event. Truth be told though, I won't be doing this on a daily basis, but I glad to have given it a go, as now I know exactly what to do if I'm off out for an evening. One tip I would certainly recommend is using eye cream before you start or you will notice it feeling very dry.

It's going to take a tiny bit more practise to achieve the amazing Instagram standard, definitely a handy little trend to learn though. One huge downside to it all has to be no bowl or spoon to lick after you're done.

There you have it, my recipe for baking! Do any of you bake and have some tips to share? I'd love to know xo

SNAPCHATTERS YOU NEED TO FOLLOW

I do love a bit of Snapchat, it's one of the apps I check on my phone in the mornings. I have a number of various, friends, family and celebs on there so it can get a bit hectic. Most of which if I'm honest I don't open, or when I do I skip through it all. However, there are a couple I religiously look for and watch every minute of, so I'd thought I'd share with you my top five favourites.

Snap ID: desiperkins

For those of you who may not know, Desi Perkins is an LA based YouTuber. I'm throughly hooked to her channel and totally obsessed with following her snaps throughout the day. Desi is a regular snapper and you can usually find her stories to be full of her adventures with fellow Youtuber Katy (Lustrelux), her husband being a babe and bringing her treats of morning coffee and shots of her makeup (dat nose highlight doe...) If you want to follow someone who will make you laugh, and I mean a full on, seal flipper flapping howl. Mrs Perkins is the one for you. She's honest and down to earth and doesn't try to hide away when she's having a bad day. You will honestly feel as though you are watching a friends story, she always gives mini reviews on new products she's tried that day too.

Snap ID: sarah_ashcroft

London based YouTuber Sarah is another snapper I find myself looking for during my morning scroll. This heart faced beauty is the best at showing you hauls of clothes and inspiration for outfits. Her style is unique and always interesting to see what she'll wipe together, usually combinations I would never think of. Daily beauty tips are featured a lot on her stories too which can be from a face cream, to even a fellow snap chatter Sarah enjoys watching herself. Oh, and don't get me started on the dip dyed mane.... that deserves a snapchat all of its own!

Snap ID: rosiehw

Ok, if you don't know who this is, you've been under a rock! Miss HW is a super model famous for her perfect pout! In recent years Rosie has launched a number of collaborations with M & S, from underwear to now her own beauty line. Her snaps are always a variety of different things. One day it can be a sneaky preview of pieces from her sportswear line or making a mouth watering roast chicken. Oh, not to mention the odd appearance of her truly gorgeous dachshunds. Rosie's stories make you feel as though you are living in the pocket of a super model (which I guess you sort of are) and see all sorts from the trips she takes or advice she passes on. I particularly like the excuse my chap came up with for having her on his snapchat too. Interested to see if Rosie will feature a cameo appearance of her beau, Jason Statham. He must think I was born yesterday, but to be fair, I can't blame him, I'd expect everyone to follow this beauty.

Snap ID: Amrezyyy

Insanely talented make up artist and Instagram sensation Amra has got to be one of my favourite snap chatters of all time. If I see a story from her I will usually wait until I can watch it all undisturbed. Her snaps are heavily beauty and fashion based, perfect for a makeup junkie like myself. Amrezy features a number of shots of her makeup of the day, great for inspiration and the odd carefree miming to a song in the car, which is something we all do. I must warn you though, if you are of a nervous disposition, brace yourself as Amra is also know for her legendary rants which can get a little heated, I personally love to watch a Rezy Rant. The sassy New Yorker has a brilliant devil may care/ haters gonna hate attitude which is just the kind of boost you need for a Monday morning.

There you have it, some of my current favourite snap chatters. Please feel free to give me a follow too, my Snap ID is jessieconstanti

Mr Blanc, a new mum's best friend

Coffee, a new mum's best friend!

If you've ever seen the episode of the Vicar of Dibley, when Dawn French sticks her head straight into a chocolate fountain, I would do something very similar with coffee if I could. So you can only imagine how awful my teeth have been stained, not a good look.

I had seen Mr Blanc Teeth Whitening Strips everywhere all over Instagram and wondered if it was really that good? I'd tried a number of teeth whitening in the past so you could think of me as a bit of a connoisseur. That said I'm super fussy and gentle formulas that are enamel safe are the top choice for me now.

So let's see if this dazzling gentleman will live up to the hype!

First off, the strips are non peroxide and enamel friendly, big tick for this sensitive toothed mumma. The formula works gently to remove any unsightly stains and it claims you will notice a difference in 14 days, your little nashers could be up to 5 shades brighter!

I thought the packaging and strips were great, no mess or fuss, perfect! All you need to do is wipe your teeth dry with a cloth or tissue, then apply the correct strip to your soon to be, pearly whites. Leave them on for about 15/20 minutes, the right sort of time for me to give the house a blitz whilst the babe is napping. The only con I would say is the residue that the strips leave behind after, however this is easily solved by a quick brush.

I have to admit, I was astounded by the results, you really can see a difference even the first time you try them. One thing I noticed though is that if you don't press the strip properly, in-between your teeth, there is some staining still visible. I got the hang of applying the strips more successfully as the days went on and soon those remaining stains were gone too. Oh, and it's best to keep your mouth open during the progress, just try to do your best cheesy grin.

All in all, this course has been a great success! I'm very happy with the results and my teeth are looking so white that I'm even receiving compliments on them.

Obviously Mr Blanc is not just for caffeine crazed mums out there, they are available for everyone. So I recommend this product to anyone who wants to see results and fast, however, I would say to not just rely on the stripes to keep your teeth white. Regular visits to the dentist are important (especially to you new mothers out there) brushing and flossing your teeth daily will also keep your teeth, healthy and strong. Oh, and try to cut down on those fizzy drinks!

What with the weather becoming a lot more sunny, you really have no excuse to not be smiling now!

Just a note to say: Thank you to Mr Blanc for sending me a sample of the whitening strips! This post is not sponsored and all the thoughts of this review are all my own. xo

My lips are (con) sealed

I can't explain to you the number of times concealer has saved my ass. From a very aggressive looking, monster spot on my fore head, to the tell tell redness of a recently threaded upper lip. Concealer has had my back every time. There was a time though, way back in the early 2000's (before eyebrows became EVERYTHING and plump lips where the dream) when I didn't even use concealer, and when I did it looked terrible. Believe me, I've seen photos... So I thought I'd share with you some of my top tips on getting your concealer looking perfect.

1. Colour Match
Matching your concealer to your skin tone is just as important as finding the perfect shade to your foundation. Get the colour slightly off and you are only drawing attention to the areas you are trying to hide. Clue is in the name really isn't it? I match my concealer up to my face the same as when choosing a foundation. You don't even need to buy it there and then, apply a sample on your neck and see how it looks in various lighting throughout the day.

2. Have More Than One
Don't worry, you can blame me for getting told off for buying "stuff that you got loads of already" I really like the finish concealer gives as a base for your highlight and contour. If I'm going for a glam, evening look that I want to last all night, I use a concealer a couple shades lighter than my skin tone on the high points of my face and a few shades darker for a contour. Try to avoid going too extreme with the shade difference or you'll end up looking as though you've got sunburnt whilst wearing skiing goggles.

3. Use Different Textures
I generally use a more liquid concealer for under the eyes. It blends a lot easier and won't look too cakey or settle into any lines and creases. For naughty blemishes I use something which backs a bit more of a punch with full coverage.

4. Be Hygienic
There are so many concealers out there with doe foot applicators, great for precision when applying around the eyes, but the worse for bacteria to find it's way into the rest of the pot. I use the back of my hand to get the product out, then use a brush to apply it wherever it is needed. Leaving you looking flawless and your little concealer germ free!

5. Get Tapping
The great Wayne Goss has a video on his YouTube all about this tip, take a look here. It's just a little trick of tapping your concealer in. The warmth of your fingers get the product blended in evenly and doesn't look too heavy.

6. Don't Be A Snob
Brand snobbery may mean you miss out on amazing products! I honestly recommend you try out as many different brands as possible, how knows, you may find a concealer for £2 that will become the be all and end all of your makeup world.

7. Your Foundation & Concealer Are A Team
Honestly, there's a whole Thelma and Louise relationship vibe about your foundation and concealer. Try not to leave the majority of the job up to only one of these products. I know from experience that it's tempting to use a full coverage foundation over your entire face, most of the time you don't really need to. Foundation's job is to even out the skin tone, while concealer finishes it all off with an extra helping hand in hiding anything you wanted. Working with these two products evenly will leave you with a flawless, natural look without using a ton of slap!

8. Don't Forget To Remove It All
Be sure to properly cleanse away your concealer, especially around the corner of the eyes and lids. Just a quick swipe of your makeup remover doesn't do the trick. What I like to do is take some cotton pads that are damp with Micellar Water and rest them on my eyes. The cleanser will work away at removing all your eye make up without all that nasty tugging on the skin.

There you have it, some tips on how to handle your concealer! Do any of you have any tips I haven't mentioned? I'd love to know in the comments below xo

Can a post shave balm really be the new favourite primer?

So I've seen Nivea Post Shave Balm everywhere at the moment, not for actually helping men calm their post trimmed faces... but by their leading ladies using it as a primer!

I was so intrigued from the first review I read, that I finally took the plunge the other day and got my own bottle! To start off with, the price, for a mere £5 you get a lot of product for your money. If this little beauty works as well as everyone is claiming it to be, I've personally saved a fortune!

The consistency is a light, liquid formula. Once applied the skin feels plumped and moisturised, but also feels a bit tacky. To me it has a similar feeling as the Laura Mercier Primer which is a great primer itself.

My foundation went on smoothly and blended like a dream. It left my foundation looking like skin and not a cakey mask, a bonus in my eyes. I noticed a slight glow too, so if you are a fan of looking more matte then get some powder ready! The only con I would say is that it doesn't minimise the pores as well as others do, like Benefit's Porefessional

I gave it a good old try throughout the week and at the end of each day my foundation hadn't budged, it honestly looked freshly applied. Oh and believe me when I say that I put it through it's paces... I'm talking trips through the stuffy London Underground (with baby paraphernalia) and general "being mum" business, so in other words being dribbled and vomited on, as well as being drenched at bath times. It even survived a date night with the chap and my flushed, haven't had alcohol for months rosy, wine cheeks. Looking at my reflection as I got myself ready for bed didn't show any signs of this mayhem and I still looked flawless.

So I can now see why people have been raving about this, I suggest you give it a go yourself and see just how amazing this product is. If you're feeling generous, you can also share it with the other half, I'd totally understand if you don't want to though.
