Goddess Halloween Look

I have to admit, this look sort of happened. I was going for a eerie, spooky goddess look, pretty can be achieved so easily, but come on now... it's Halloween, the time of year you can go a little bit scary looking! So here it is, if you fancy having a go at this quick and easy look then take a look at this post, hope you enjoy it cake lovers xo

First things first, get your base ready! You want your make up to last all night so primer is your best friend. I also applied Chanel Base Lumiere to give my skin a glow then concealed any blemishes or uneven skin tone. You don't need to be too worried if the concealer isn't 100% matching to your skin tone as your foundation is going to be much lighter than your usual colour.

Once my skin was all primed and ready I moved on to foundation, I used Illamasqua's Cream Foundation in CF110 which is very light, almost white... so nothing near my skin tone. I focused the colour mainly on the areas we would naturally highlight, so under the eyes, cheeks, bridge of the nose, chin and middle of the forehead. I then blended it all together with a damp Beauty Blender. Don't forget to blend the foundation onto your lips to really knock the colour out of them.

Next I took a MAC paint pot in IndianWood and did some severe contouring! Draw a curved line from your ear towards your mouth and down the sides of your chin. You want to make yourself look quite quant and frail looking, that's what makes this look a little more eerie. The trick is, if you're starting to look ill you're doing it right! Blend out the paint pot colour into the foundation and add depth with a dark eye shadow, I used Factory from the Naked 3 Palette.

For the eyes I took a number of shadows from the Naked 3. I used Strange, which is a light cream all over the lids and then Dust all over, from the lid meeting the eyebrow and into the inner corners of the eyes onto the nose. I then used a soft white Kohl from MUA and lined my top and bottom lash lines and water lines. I blended the pencil together with the Naked 3 shade called Limit to give a soft appearance. For the lashes I used an old clean mascara wand and dabbed it into the Illamasqua foundation, then coated my lashes and brows.

To finish off my brows, instead of my brows looking grey I lined them with a white Liquid Liner from Illamasqua called Scribe. This made them look a lot whiter and bold, you of course can use a Kohl pencil but my brows are quite dark so needed all the help I could get! To give the look an bit of an evil twist, I continued the line I drew on the brow down onto the top of my nose to give the look a constant frown. To give the brows a touch of goddess I used Make Up Revolution's Awesome Metals Eyeshadow in the colour Rose Gold and used the mascara wand to brush the shadow through the brows.

Finally, finish the look by dabbing the rose gold eyeshadow onto the centre part of your lips, then paint your fingers with a mixture of the rose gold shadow and the MAC paint pot IndianWood, don't worry about it being too neat! There you have it, one spooky, eerie goddess look. Let me know if you give it a go! Happy Halloween!

Grooming Tips for Men

Grooming Tips for Men

So today's post is going to be a little different, This is going to be a dedicated blog post to all you gentlemen out there with your beloved beards. Let's face it, they won't be going anywhere for a long time I get the feeling, so Rogue is going to give you a couple tips on achieving the best beard for your face shape and how to keep it looking it's best.

Oval/Oblong Face
For more of a oval shaped face create a more flattering style of beard by trimming the hair closer on the underneath of your chin. Leave the length on your cheeks, this will even out the face leaving you with a smart, neat looking beard.

Round Face
For rounder faces create length by leaving more amount of hair on the chin and less on the cheeks. This creates a longer looking face and much more flattering beard that will compliment your feat.

Now you have figured out your face shape, we can move on to giving you the best results in tailoring your facial hair. Doesn't matter how full your beard may be it can always look neat and well looked after....believe me, no girls are a fan of the Tom Hanks in Cast Away look.

  1. Taper the hair on your neck with a trimmer which has a No. 1 guard, always starting above the Adam's Apple.
  2. Trim the tops of your cheeks by creating a parallel line to your jaw line.
  3. Comb your mustache down and trim the hairs that hang over your top lip.

Things to remember:

  • The most sensitive part of your face is your neck, shave that part last.
  • If stubble grows high onto your cheeks, keep it trimmed just below your cheekbones parallel to your jaw.
  • Always shave with the hair, or across the grain to stop any cuts/nicks.
  • Exfoliate your face before shaving to remove any dead skin cells that cause cuts.
  • If you are prone to ingrowing hairs use a disposable razor maximum of 5 times before changing it to another.
  • Always keep your razors or blades sharp for best results.
  • Shampoo and Condition your beard everyday.
  • Use a beard oil daily to soften the hair.
  • Comb your beard whilst in the shower to help straighten the hairs or trimming and styling.
  • Taper or fade your neckline for a more natural looking finish and less maintenance in the future.

Here are a number of brands that stock the best products for grooming and maintaining your beards, click on the name to visit their websites:

Of course lets not forget the month famously known as Movember is almost upon us, so if you are new to all this facial hair growing, now would be a great time to start! Visit the Official Movember website for more information on raising awareness on men's health and charities actively helping with Cancer Research. Visit the site here

Rogue Girls

Everyone meet Louise

Like the pervious Rogue Girls I’ve also worked with Louise. I get the feeling that all us girls spoke about was beauty and celebrity girl crushes...

Louise and I bonded over our love for beauty Youtubers and would find ourselves making note of any beauty news or products we liked the look of to share with the other, generally our days were filled with beauty chitchat and a hours of laughter.

I owe a lot to Louise for always being such a positive source of advice about anything, literally anything. I once had a self loathing moment of not being able to fit into a white jumpsuit for a staff party that evening, within minutes positive Lou came back with the response of “It’s ok, you’ll find something better, and think of how messy that jumpsuit would have got if you spilt something on yourself” Now, that may not sound like much, but it was just the right amount of logic I needed to feel a thousand times better about myself. Louise had a lot to do with me getting the courage to follow my dreams into beauty, just a daily motivational nudge from her is all I needed to take the plunge and do what I am doing now. For that, I will always be thankful.

Besides being my little motivational speaker, the girl is a beauty expert so I suggest you take note of what this stunner has to offer. Enjoy cake lovers xo

So Louise, who is your celebrity beauty crush?

Cheryl Cole! I love her eye shadow colours. I find myself taking a lot of inspiration from her as she a brunette, I also think I have quite a similar eye shade to her so that helps a lot too.

Do you change up your make up look make up look when we get into colder months?

In the evenings I will, for the summer I love using pastel colours and highlighter, I really overload with it actually to achieve a summery shimmer. My daytime look is pretty consistent throughout the year though.

What is your daytime look?

I attempt a flawless skin, I can’t live without NARS sheer glow foundation, I have acne scarring and it really helps cover them without looking cakey, it's a dream product! I'd then team that with a cat eye, nude lip and pink cheeks using NARS blush in Orgasm .

Which beauty brand is your favourite?

Benefit… I’m a sucker for the packaging! Their primers, blushers and concealers are brilliant.

Have you got a feel good mantra?

My mum once said; "You’ll end up with the face you deserve," so to avoid looking like an old bag at 40, I  always try to be a nice and happy person.

When do you feel most beautiful?

With a tan! I feel like I look slimmer and it makes my teeth look more white!

Share a beauty tip!

Tackle your tired eyes with a yellow based concealer on your lids, I like lemon-aid by Benefit. Then apply a light/bright pink in the eye's inner corners. Finish it off with a liquid concealer like Mac pro long wear under the eyes with a damp beauty blender.. It makes you look wide awake!

What does your skin care consist of?

Brace yourself... So, in the evenings I use a Kiehl's face wash with a hotcloth, and finish with the Kiehl's midnight recovery concentrate. Then in the mornings I use a REN moisturiser. Weekly I use a clay based mask from Eve Lom, also, recently I've started getting monthly Decleor facials which are brilliant- if like me your skin is your nemesis.

What is in your make up bag?

My NARS foundation, orgasm blush, BarryM liquid eyeliner and a Rimmer mascara, I'm not big on mascara so I only have one, but I love concealers! I like Benefit's Fake Up concealer for when I'm on the run and I can't be dealing with creasing.

Rogue reckons this glowing, fresh look from AW'14 Ralph Lauren catwalk would be right up Louise's street! To give yourself a dewy base that doesn't turn oily looking, prime the face before foundation. Primer will blur out the appearance of exposed pores, fine lines and will give longevity to your makeup.  Set it all with a light coverage powder focusing on the t-zone for a natural, flawless finish.

Finding your Foundations

Who remembers being sixteen and finding the makeup aisle full to bursting point with so many different foundations you ended up with a patchwork on your hands of testers. Normally leaving with a shade far too dark for your skin tone and spending the day at school with the dreaded tide mark! …..Oh the horror…. I know I do. Still, I can’t be too hard on myself as the Foundation Game is a tricky one to master. Unless you have the flawless skin of a Victoria Secrets model were a BB cream is enough, without the knowledge of finding your perfect match, it could all get a little messy.

So today is going to be a quick post on how to find the undertone of your skin and what would be the best base for you.

First off, lets figure out the best place to test your foundation. If you are brave enough to go it alone and match yourself, stay away from applying it on your hand! Pop a match stick line of foundation down your jaw line, this is the area that matches up best with the rest of your neck and decalletage. Some make the mistake of matching up to their cheeks, but that area has a lot of colour to it, seeing as we flush up rosy whenever we are hot, embarrassed or had one too many vinos!

Once you’ve applied your foundation, take a step back and take a look in the mirror, if the colour of your forehead, chin and chest all have uniformity you’re on to a winner! Right, now we have that sorted let me explain something that 12 years ago I originally thought was nonsense…. Undertones…

Pink Undertones

Pink undertones are usually found in light and fair skins, your hair or eye colour doesn’t really make a difference, but usually blondes with blue eyes will no doubt have pink undertones. One way you can tell if you have pink undertone is whether you are able to tan easily, if you find that you burn quickly and don’t hold a deep colour for long then you my friend, are a pink! One little tip I’ve learnt to find out quickly is to look on the inside of your wrist at your veins, blue visible veins mean pink undertone.

For me, matching people with pink undertones can be a little more tricky than someone who has a yellow undertone. Pink doesn’t take any prisoners, you have to get it 100% right or you end up looking like you’re wearing an orange mask. Pink undertone foundations are lighter in colour and normally have names like “ivory” or “porcelain”

I’ll be honest, fair skinned people are my second favourite skin to work on (black skin is my first for all you nosey bunch out there) Fair skin, a lot of the time, means freckles and I personally think freckles are so beautiful, they are like little dots of youth you will have on your face forever. So to all you freckled wonders out there, don’t cake on that foundation to such a degree they disappear!

Yellow Undertones

Yellow undertones are found in medium or olive skins, basically, the easiest way to think of it is if you have some hint of Mediterranean in your family history you will have a yellow undertone. Yellow undertone skins tan quickly and with ease, another little trick is to place some gold jewellery round your neck, if it sits there looking quite striking on your bare skin it’s because the warm, yellow tones compliment it well. Of course don’t forget the wrist test, for all you yellows you will notice green visible veins.

The tricky part of having a yellow undertone is making the mistake of using foundation too light and with a pink tone. It has the ability to wash you out and strip away all the natural warmth in your skin. So next time you have someone say “oh, you look tired” when in fact you had a good 8 hours sleep the night before, have a little peek in the mirror, remember, uniformity is key so if your forehead, chin and chest don’t match, and you’re looking a little pale, means you’ve gone over to the pink side!

Never panic, grab that bronzer and dust it over the high points of your face, where the sun naturally hits you. This will add the warmth back and you’ll be a match again!

Neutral Undertones

Neutral undertones can be found in any skin type, doesn’t even matter about your ethnic background, this means you are a mix of pink and yellow undertones. To find out if you are a neutral you would have a mixture of blue and green veins on your inner wrist. Be wary though you neutrals, although you will have the easiest time finding foundations to match, it can go terribly wrong. I’m speaking from experience here, yes I have the dark hair, the olive skin, the Mediterranean background, all signs that point to a yellow undertone, but no in the winter months I am literally a ghost with a thick pair of black eyebrows…. Slap on some foundation with a yellow undertone, and I am literally a ghost with a thick pair of black eyebrows and an tangoed face. Now that’s not even a look found in TOWIE anymore… My advice for you fellow neutrals is have a winter foundation shade and summer shade. You will find the more you tan, the more yellow your undertone becomes. It may feel like you’ve drawn the short, rather expensive, straw but really you have the best of both worlds… you have the ability to keep hold of a tan and possibly have a set of gorgeous freckles! Plus, if you are anything like me, you can use the excuse of being neutral to have makeup spending sprees!

Rogue Girls

Everyone, meet Beccy:

Beccy was actually my manager for a number of years, it was shortly after getting to know her I can now class her as a very dear friend. Beccy brings the school child out in you, she is one of the cool kids and you are dying to be part of the gang and she will welcome you with a warm cuddle and joke that will have you crying.

This Rogue Girl is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to beauty! Her make up look shows this, simple but skilfully applied.... This lady knows what she's doing. Let's find out any makeup wisdom she has to share!

"Which are your favourite beauty brands?"

" At the moment, currently NARS"

"Do you have a celebrity beauty crush? If so, who are they?"

"I'd have to say, Cheryl Cole for her amazing skin, Rosie Huntington-Whitely for the killer pout and Bridgette Bardot for those locks!"

"Do you have any Beauty Hero products?"

"Smashbox BB cream in Light/Neutral.... Oh and Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo in Ash Blonde/Taupe!"

"What do you use for your skin care at the moment?"

"Vichy, Ren, Aveeno, Mama Milo, Bellapierre and Kiehls.... to name a few!"

"Amazing! Is there anything you've changed with your make up look recently?"

"Yes, my blusher, I'm using Sleek Makeup blusher in the shade Suede"

"Have you got a feel good mantra?"

"Let your soul be the depth to your lip shade, let your happiness shine like no illuminator out there and most of all, let laughter be the answer to that wrinkle filler. Actually, scrap all that soppy rubbish... Go to your nearest beauty store and shop, shop till you can't shop no more. Think Propaganda and BUY make up, your face needs it!"

(warned you Beccy is hilarious!)

What's in Beccy's make up bag?

Click on the products you like the look of to find them (or similar) online

One of the looks seen on the SS '15 runways is this Michael Kors simple, soft kohled eye. Rogue reckons this to be a great look similar to Beccy's. The smudgy kohl in the outer corners of the eye gives the definition of a larger, almond shaped eye. One tip from this week's Rogue Girl is apply vaseline onto your lashes of a night time, this will really help them grow!

Clinique's New Sonic Facial Brush

Everyone, the skin charger, skin charger, everyone….Right, now the introductions are out the way I’d like you all to get to know more about Clinique’s Sonic Facial Brush. Yep, Clinique have taken the plunge into the big wide world of electrical beauty tools. Boy have they done good. This Swiss made, 100% waterproof brush has changed my life, not just my skin!

I mentioned in previous posts about how the Clarisonic changed my skin, but to be honest with you, once I used the Sonic Brush, the thought of going back to using the cumbersome, heavy Clarisonic sends shivers down my spine.

The Sonic is deigned to use with Clinique’s famous custom fit 3 step, which includes a liquid facial soap, clarifying lotion and moisturiser. I’ll be honest, I actually used my liquid facial soap on my Clarisonic before I even caught wind of what Clinique had in the pipe line.

So, what you do is pop some liquid soap onto your brush and away you go for 30 seconds….yes really, only a teeny 30 seconds. During that time the soap, with the help of the brush clean your skin of any dirt and grim and all things yucky you’ve picked up during the day, leaving your skin feeling so clean and incredibly soft to touch. They recommend to only use it for 30 seconds of an evening as the vibarations are a new sensation to the skin so you don’t want to freak it out! I used mine for the first couple weeks in the evening then bunked it up to 60 seconds a day, 30 in the morning, then again before bed. Once your face is all clean and lovely carrying on with your usual skin care, you may notice how everything absorbs quicker and even your make up goes on better. Yep, this brush even helps with days that your make up just isn’t doing what it’s told.

The ends of the bristles are all rounded at the ends so that means it is so soft to the skin, good thing really as Clinique is all about being gentle on the skin, their slogan after all is “Allergy tested, 100% fragrance free.” It’s oval head and firmer green bristles get right into all the nooks and crannies your fingers could never reach.

This brush really has helped my skin so much so, I attacked the poor significant other with it, after a few huffs and puffs and mumbles of him ‘not needing it cos I’m a bloke’ I’ve caught the cheeky so and so using it on the sly! Luckily though, you can grab spare heads from your local Clinique counter. I’d probably suggest grabbing yourself a new brush head every 4 months too, oh…and take your make up before you put that brush anywhere near your face! Trust me, the moment those bristles start to look beige is more heart breaking than the ending of The Notebook…

I guess I best share with you the boring, sensible bit now, the price… For someone who went on finance for the Clarisonic, a mere £79 seems reasonable, I mean, the brush will last you at least up to it’s 2 year warranty, and I’m sure if you don’t take up practising your juggling with it, it would last longer.

I strongly suggest making your way to your local Clinique and taking a closer look at this remarkable little brush. If you ask one of the girls nicely, I’m sure they would give you a demo on your hand and face too!

Where did the Summer go?

So, ok.... This isn't funny...Whoever has pinched the Summer, I'd like it back please. I'm not quite finished with it! Not once did I enjoy a warm evening in a pub beer garden with a cider, nor did I go fruit picking, plus...Now this bit is going to shock you. I only had one BBQ. Yep, only one!

Now I'm surrounded by a huge pile of Halloween/Bonfire/Christmas decorations and cards. If I hear just the faintest whisper of Jingle Bells I will scream. Don't get me wrong, I am very much looking forward to Winter but I never had my Summer romance with, well, Summer. So as I am dragged, kicking and screaming into the festive season I thought I'd share with you a little treat that is beautiful for the senses and spirit (get it) during this Autumnly season.

Jo Malone Dark Amber and Ginger Lily Cologne

Now, during my Malone history I've some what avoided the black bottles of cologne. I got it into my head they are going to be far too strong and give me a headache. Catching a whiff of this fragrance though was totally unexpected. It is a gorgeous scent! I have to stop myself from drowning myself in it, the usual problem I have with Jo Malone.

The fragrance uses the rare Kyara wood which features in the Kohdo ceremony… I know, I hadn’t a glue either, but thanks to Google I can reveal it is prized ceremony in Japan that involves listening to incense with your entire being and designed to deepen spiritual awareness. Now doesn’t that sound lovely? It's as though this fragrance will help with your soul, but don't get carried away... There's no need to shave the sides of your head and put the rest in a top knot and grab a pair of bongo drums.... Just appreciate the various lovely layers you'll experience throughout the day whilst you wear this cologne.

The scent is one of these clever colognes that sit well on both male and female skin. You can really smell the amber in it which gives this fragrance a sort of intelligence and the ginger gives just the right amount of muskiness to trigger off the 'mmmmm' factor as you take a sniff of your wrist.

Like all Jo Malone perfumes you are carried off to your own little wonderland. With this fragrance I step through the looking glass into the world were I dress in all my finery and need a maid to help take my hat off… Yep, it is literally Pride and Prejudice in a black bottle, and this fragrance is exactly what Mark Darcy would smell like too as he comes striding across the dew laden moors towards you.

I can hear all your hearts flattering....

I do question myself to speak of a perfume in such a way, however, if you were to fall in love with a fragrance, this one will certainly steal your heart.
