I'm singing in the rain

Jo Malone- London Rain Launch Event

On Thursday afternoon I headed my way to the Big Smoke for a special event in Selfridges for the limited edition London Rain fragrances.

I can't hide the fact I love Jo Malone and secretly dream about the day I could have so many of their diffusers and candles that my own home it will smell just like one of their stores!

Jo Malone scents manage to stay with you the entire day and never become too over powering. For me, they are more than just perfumes, every different smell brings back a different memory for me. Whether it's Red Roses reminding me of shopping in a freezing New York City, or the Wild Fig taking me back to my Cypriot childhood spending an afternoon in my family's village.

Usually around this time of year Jo Malone brings out a limited edition collection which gives a gentleman hat tilt to the brands British roots. Last years focused on typical English sunday afternoon teas, funny thing was, it was about that time I was in New York and was talking to the girl on the counter about the collection. I found myself becoming ever so well spoken and really played up how wonderful being British was... Ignoring the fact I'm only a half breed mongrel of course..

This year the focus was different rain falls in London. From the crisp, early morning, dew laden gardens right the way through to a dark and heavy midnight downpour. I was greeted by one of the girls at the stand. I must admit, the ladies that work in the Selfridges store are the best I've experienced throughout my Jo Malone purchasing history.

Selfridges Jo Malone Stand

This event was really lovely and so busy! The excited little chatter of all us Malone fans slowly started to create some sort of Beatlemania and the stand was getting busier and busier by the minute!

There was a choice of four different cocktails available to try, each cocktail matching the colour and idea of the new colognes. Not forgetting, the little meringue bites that I was grabbing by the handful!

Too pretty to drink!

please note: this was full before I came along...oops

Once I finished eyeing up the candles and visualising my dream house  I was shown to a chair for an arm massage and a formal introduction to the new collection.

The first cologne is the Rain & Angelica. The lady I had described this scent as very fresh and aquatic. Just like early mornings with the garden still covered in a blanket of dew. Very fresh and light, for me I could quite easily see a few men choosing this scent as its not too girly and will stay very fresh smelling as the notes chance with your skin and throughout the day.

Glassy beads of dew, awakening a London park at dawn. A revitalising scent, enlivened with herbaceous angelica and juicy lime on an earthy base of vetiver. Aqueous and clear.

The next was Wisteria & Violet, I really liked this scent. The idea was a morning shower and soaked flower petals, a much more feminine scent which is a little lighter and more spring like than Red Roses.

A soft morning shower, soaking purple wisteria cascading over London stone walls. Infused with the wet-petal scent of violets and water lily. Rain-washed and intoxicating.

The third scent in the collection is White Jasmine & Mint. Now for all you fellow Jo Maloners, you would know this scent is already part of the collection available all year round, however, the scent worked really well and the idea be hide this was a sudden afternoon cloud burst that drenches London.

(By this point I had thunder claps ringing in my ears and the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end, the lady I had was a great story teller! her name is Georgina, you must go and find her for a arm massage!)

An afternoon cloudburst, drenching gardens exuberant with jasmine, orange flower and rose. Eccentric with its dash of scrambling wild mint. Enchanting and refreshing.

The final scent was my favourite!! Absolutely loved it and chose this one to have my massage with. The scent was teamed with Blackberry Bay body cream and it worked so well together. Just yummy and I rode the underground in a cloud of beautiful Jo Malone goodness!  The scent is called Black Cedarwood & Juniper and is the heavy  midnight downpour scent.Dark and seductive I just wanted to do a Cleopatra and bath in it!

Midnight rain. Seductive with the carnal touch of cumin and chilli leaves. Dark with cedarwood. Humid with moss. Modern and urban.

Thumbs up to the creative team behind this collection, Really gorgeous colognes.

p.s  please keep Black Cedarwood and Juniper!

I'd love to know what you guys think of the collection, or the scents you wear already! Hope you enjoyed today's post Cake Lovers and I'll speak to you all soon xo
