Lingfield Park Marriott Hotel and Country Club

Lingfield Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club

Back at the beginning of February we were contacted by a fellow blogger friend Kirsty over at EastbourneLifestyle to join her on a lovely day out at the Marriott Hotel. Once we were all decked out in our robes and slippers we relaxed the entire morning in the pool and hot tub. Pure Bliss, we then went off for our chosen treatments with the lovely staff at the Hotel's in-house Spa. I had a fantastic facial which I never wanted it to end! The products used were Elemis which is a brand I've always wanted to try out properly so this was a first! Once all relaxed and dressed we then had the most insane dinner, honestly it was incredible. We went for the Italian experience, which had so many courses I have not needed to eat since! The whole day was so relaxing and went far too quickly, the staff were attentive and head chef at dinner not only provided us with a gorgeous feast, but a running explanation on what the next course was heading our way, which personally, I thought was a lovely touch! Here are a few of my snaps I took throughout the day and take a look at Kirsty's blog too here

Fashion for Relief

Fashion for Relief

Now, if I could sit here and talk about the various different looks and outfits seen at Fashion Week... this blog post would be the longest known to man. One show that really stood out to me was Naomi Campbell's charity show, Fashion for Relief, a show dedicated to raising money for Ebola.

With more celebrity faces you could shake your FROW seat at this show was more than raising money for a good cause. The one look that really caught my eye is the bold red lip and simple eye, a classic look that will never go out of style.

See what I mean, can't get enough of those red pouts....and Dame Vivienne Westwood show stopping finish of course.

I had a little rummage around my lipstick collection and found a lovely NARS Matte finish lip pencil in the colour Red Square. This red has a orange under tone with a finish that is not too drying on the lips, plus the beauty of this colour is the fact it is a pencil form for perfect precision application without the need of a lip liner.

The Scarlet Hotel

Back in December the boyfriend and I visited The Scarlet Hotel down in Mawgan Porth in Cornwall for a break. Once the shock of being up before the birds left my system, the five hour journey down was very easy and enjoyable. We arrived at around 12 just about the right time to check in a have a lovely cup of tea whilst taking in the insanely beautiful scenery surrounding the hotel.

The staff were very professional and friendly, felt totally relaxed and cosy in the fluffy robe and slippers that did not leave our backs for the entire weekend. Once we were all settled in our room we headed out to the cliff top hot tub. I must tell you, I could use the most descriptive writing these little fingers of mine can tap up onto this keyboard and it would still not come close to describing just how spectacular this experience was.

Spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing around the pool and sauna. Unfortunately the outdoor pool was sub zero temperatures, even for two water babies like us. I took a mental note to return and have a good swim during the warmer months.

The following morning, with a fuzzy head on my part, the romantic necessity of having one too many glasses of bubbly had taken its toll. Breakfast soon sorted that and I was once again ready to explore the surrounding coastal line.

Before we headed home, we took one more visit to the Spa for a Rhassoul treatment which is ideal for couples and friends. The best moment would be literally having a mud fight right before the huge monsoon shower burst on. Highly recommend this for a good laugh with your friends or partner, you even leave with baby soft skin!

So almost two months after and we still talk about The Scarlet. Honestly a lovely, unforgettable trip that you must visit at least once! Trust me, you will be booking your next stay with them even before you leave, I know we certainly have!

How to get the cut you want

How to get the cut you want

So there you are sat in a robe, the remains of your hair tickling your neck and dying to inch your nose when the hair dresser in a final flamboyant scissor snip says you are all finished. With a the excitement rising in your belly you take one last glimpse of the haircut you spent hours searching for in various magazines. This excitement, gone in an instant as you gaze bewildered into the reflection of the back of your head....

"That looks nothing like the picture I showed them, Oh my god I hate it...why did they cut off that bit? Why have I got one bit longer than I wanted? When did I ever say I wanted an undercut?"

These thoughts race through your mind at a hundred miles an hour, yet, remarkably, you smile your biggest Beauty Queen smile, pay and leave thanking them as you go. What is it about Hairdressers that do this to us all? I can hardly think of any other profession that we pay happily for something we didn't ask for. If you were a vegetarian that was wrongly given a steak during a meal would you still eat it with a smile? Today's blog is going to be some tips and advise on how to get the look you were after without the post cut tears.

1. Don't be indecisive- It is always best to know exactly what you are after, I find that getting images of celebrity hair styles you love to be the best and easiest way. Show your hairdresser on your phone and ask if that look will suit you. With their knowledge and training they should be able to advise you. Even if that particular style doesn't work they should match it as close as possible and explain what they will do and how the finished cut will look.

2. Don't let them intimidate you- They may be the ones holding the sharp scissors but that does not give them the power to do whatever they may like to your hair. Remember you are the paying customer, it is your opinion you will share with your friends and so really for their reputation it should be a good one.

3. It's ok to say no- You've had your head knocked about for the last 45 minutes, your complimentary tea is cold and your magazine is covered in hair. This doesn't mean you have outstayed your welcome and need to be booted out your seat as soon as the hair dryer is switched off. If you don't like the look of your hair, say so, ask to have it finished until you are happy. Now, if you have a similar experience as me, you may receive a look that makes you feel as though you have just slapped their grandmother's face with a wet fish. I once even got a bottom lip quiver.. Remember, you are paying for this.... you are the client and you will have to deal with styling it once you get home.

4. Price has nothing to do with it- My experience has led me to believe that price has nothing to do with the quality of the hair cut. I have been to some over priced salons and have been totally miserable with the results. The best haircut I ever got was in a salon local to my hometown. Friendly staff, purse friendly prices and honestly, the best hair cut!

One final thing to remember, if you do fall victim to a scissor happy hair dresser, luckily, hair always grows back! It's a good idea to chop and change around salons until you find your favourite cut and stay with that hair dresser.

Hope this short little blog post helped with some hair raising (sorry couldn't help it) issues you may be experiencing. Happy Monday Cake Lovers xo
