Pucker Up!

Pucker Up with a Sleek Make Up Matte Me!

Now over the years I've always sort of ignored my lips to be honest, just some lip balm and I was good to go. The years have carried on and my opinion has changed, now I can't get enough of lip products! It is amazing how lips can change an entire look!

I've noticed the new SS14 trend is orange lips and I am ready to give that a go, however, it was whilst I was on the hunt for a good orange lipstick I found this lip product from Sleek makeup, matte me, you can't really be called a gloss as that is not what it is! The application of it is very smooth and easy but a few seconds later you have a perfect matte finish. It's this sort of wizardry I love!

The colour I decided on was a nude with a rose pink undertone, perfect for day and night so can very easily become a makeup bag staple. The colour is a very close match to my natural lip colour so once the product was applied it gave me a fuller looking pair of smackers without drying them out, I am well and truly hooked! Have you guys tried it yet? Let me know what you think!

Desert Island Products

'If you were on a desert island, what product couldn't you live without?' Now I enjoyed playing this game, almost as much as 'What would you do if you won the lottery?'

I found myself getting really involved in thinking about this, as if tomorrow I'll end up Tom Hanks-esque with nothing but a battered beauty blender as company on some little island.

(wouldn't mind it being the one in the picture above though!)

I have to admit to you all, I don't think I could handle having just one product either.. back in the day I could have survived with some lip balm, but my make-up addiction has grown to a serious state, not meaning I wear tons of the stuff, but like collecting it all and trying out all the products I've not yet used. With this addiction, I've found myself to be a bit jaded in thinking about what I couldn't actually live without, after all its all there, neatly tucked away in my storage ready to grab. So, with that I sat down and thought about what I couldn't survive without.

I've come up with five products that if forced to use day in day out I'd be happy with what I'd look like! Yes I know its five products, but can you really expect someone with such an addiction to go completely cold turkey? Do you not remember Train Spotting? God knows what I'd have crawling across the ceiling towards me...

Here they are, Enjoy cake lovers xo

What would your desert island products be?

The Tilbury Touch

The other day I spotted the March edition of Allure Magazine with Victoria Beckham on the cover, and my god, Victoria looks stunning!

It was whilst I was looking at the cover trying to figure out how that amazing smoky, yet wet looking eye make-up was done that I thought to myself..

'This looks like it's a Charlotte Tilbury!'

Just like the super fan I am of Charlotte's work I could see it a mile off! I've grabbed a couple images from the shoot to show you all just how beautiful Charlotte's work, and of course Victoria look. Enjoy!

The eyes have it

When I'm doing a job I always look forward to working on the eyes! The possibilities are endless with what you can do with them and I just love it!

This is a totally different story when it comes to my own set of peepers. I stick to what I know will make me look a lot more put together then I actually am. It was whilst  I was having a look at what the trends were during all the different Fashion Weeks that I fancied mixing it up a bit and stepping out of my comfort zone.

I thought the pop of blue in the Anna Sui and Christian Dior shows were so pretty and it was after I read an article in Look Magazine that I wanted to give blue shadows a go! Here's what I came up with, Enjoy cake lovers!

Anna Sui                                                                                    Dior

What I used
Smashbox Primer
Maybelline Fit Me Foundation
Maybelline Fit Me Powder
Sleek Contour Kit
Mac Blush in Peaches
Mac Concealer
Rimmel Wake Me Up! concealer
MUA shadows
BHcosmetic palette
Rimmel mascara

Final Result

I actually quite like the look I ended up with. I decided not to run before I could walk though and used blue only in the inner corners of my eyes. I started with the colour called Earth in the BHcosmetics palette then the darker blue called Neptune right on the tear duct to give the eyes a little something extra. For the rest of the lid I used two colours from the little MUA palette, using the darker brown in the crease to give my eyes more depth.

I gave all my brushes a spray with my Mac Fix+ to really bring out the pigment in the shadows. If you don't have Fix+ then eye drops work well too.

There you have it! Hope you liked today's post everyone! xo

Fresh faced ready for Spring

Time to get fresh faced for Spring

Can you believe it? I'm scared to even breath it, but can it be that this dreadful rain and miserable weather has blown past and left us somewhat stunned, blinking up to the sunshine in awe... It has been a long time since he showed his face. Seeing as the sun is shining and I keep catching smells in the air that tell me spring is on its way, I figured why not show you how I change my makeup around for this time of year.

Winter is a bully to my skin and I usually stick to a matte finish and a darker blush, but I think you can get away with that look as natural light is usually muted by dark and overcast days. However, once that sunshine breaks through the clouds, albeit lovely, it's very unforgiving! For me, matte foundations, a dark blush and contouring makes me look so old and miserable in this light. Time for a Spring Clean I reckon!

I tend to use lighter products in the spring, I even don't mind my blemishes not being as well covered as usual. Looking young, cheerful and fresh faced is the aim! Here are my go to spring time products I use to get a fresh look.

Even my flowers are about to bloom!

Rimmel Match Perfection gives my skin a dewy finish all because of the light reflecting radiance this foundation gives you. Helps you look a little more awake too! Another good Rimmel foundation for fresh faced looks is Wake Me Up!

Always give your finished look a light spray, not only does it keep your makeup in place but gives a fresh finish to the skin.

Sleek contouring is amazing! I searched for this for months and months and it was worth it! This contour and highlight are a better team than Batman and Robin!

I like to highlight under my eyes with the Rimmel Wake Me Up! concealer to make me look more awake. Same reason I use Rimmel kohl pencil in this nude colour on my water line. I usually like to wear a cat eye flick but find black a little too dark for a sunny day so use this Collection liquid liner in chocolate brown instead. The brown makes you look more fawn like and young.

Don't get me wrong, as soon as that sun goes down I'm all about a sexy jet black cat flick!

To finish the look off I usually use the Urban Decay Naked pallete for its warm browns (especially Buck) and lightly colour wash around my eyes. Then in the tear duct I'll use the Sleek highlighter to really open my eyes. Not forgetting curling my lashes and loads of coats of mascara! There you have it! My Spring fresh faced look! Hope you enjoyed this cake lovers xo

I'm singing in the rain

Jo Malone- London Rain Launch Event

On Thursday afternoon I headed my way to the Big Smoke for a special event in Selfridges for the limited edition London Rain fragrances.

I can't hide the fact I love Jo Malone and secretly dream about the day I could have so many of their diffusers and candles that my own home it will smell just like one of their stores!

Jo Malone scents manage to stay with you the entire day and never become too over powering. For me, they are more than just perfumes, every different smell brings back a different memory for me. Whether it's Red Roses reminding me of shopping in a freezing New York City, or the Wild Fig taking me back to my Cypriot childhood spending an afternoon in my family's village.

Usually around this time of year Jo Malone brings out a limited edition collection which gives a gentleman hat tilt to the brands British roots. Last years focused on typical English sunday afternoon teas, funny thing was, it was about that time I was in New York and was talking to the girl on the counter about the collection. I found myself becoming ever so well spoken and really played up how wonderful being British was... Ignoring the fact I'm only a half breed mongrel of course..

This year the focus was different rain falls in London. From the crisp, early morning, dew laden gardens right the way through to a dark and heavy midnight downpour. I was greeted by one of the girls at the stand. I must admit, the ladies that work in the Selfridges store are the best I've experienced throughout my Jo Malone purchasing history.

Selfridges Jo Malone Stand

This event was really lovely and so busy! The excited little chatter of all us Malone fans slowly started to create some sort of Beatlemania and the stand was getting busier and busier by the minute!

There was a choice of four different cocktails available to try, each cocktail matching the colour and idea of the new colognes. Not forgetting, the little meringue bites that I was grabbing by the handful!

Too pretty to drink!

please note: this was full before I came along...oops

Once I finished eyeing up the candles and visualising my dream house  I was shown to a chair for an arm massage and a formal introduction to the new collection.

The first cologne is the Rain & Angelica. The lady I had described this scent as very fresh and aquatic. Just like early mornings with the garden still covered in a blanket of dew. Very fresh and light, for me I could quite easily see a few men choosing this scent as its not too girly and will stay very fresh smelling as the notes chance with your skin and throughout the day.

Glassy beads of dew, awakening a London park at dawn. A revitalising scent, enlivened with herbaceous angelica and juicy lime on an earthy base of vetiver. Aqueous and clear.

The next was Wisteria & Violet, I really liked this scent. The idea was a morning shower and soaked flower petals, a much more feminine scent which is a little lighter and more spring like than Red Roses.

A soft morning shower, soaking purple wisteria cascading over London stone walls. Infused with the wet-petal scent of violets and water lily. Rain-washed and intoxicating.

The third scent in the collection is White Jasmine & Mint. Now for all you fellow Jo Maloners, you would know this scent is already part of the collection available all year round, however, the scent worked really well and the idea be hide this was a sudden afternoon cloud burst that drenches London.

(By this point I had thunder claps ringing in my ears and the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end, the lady I had was a great story teller! her name is Georgina, you must go and find her for a arm massage!)

An afternoon cloudburst, drenching gardens exuberant with jasmine, orange flower and rose. Eccentric with its dash of scrambling wild mint. Enchanting and refreshing.

The final scent was my favourite!! Absolutely loved it and chose this one to have my massage with. The scent was teamed with Blackberry Bay body cream and it worked so well together. Just yummy and I rode the underground in a cloud of beautiful Jo Malone goodness!  The scent is called Black Cedarwood & Juniper and is the heavy  midnight downpour scent.Dark and seductive I just wanted to do a Cleopatra and bath in it!

Midnight rain. Seductive with the carnal touch of cumin and chilli leaves. Dark with cedarwood. Humid with moss. Modern and urban.

Thumbs up to the creative team behind this collection, Really gorgeous colognes.

p.s  please keep Black Cedarwood and Juniper!

I'd love to know what you guys think of the collection, or the scents you wear already! Hope you enjoyed today's post Cake Lovers and I'll speak to you all soon xo

Here are a couple more snaps from the day, enjoy!
